Elora Festival and Singers announce management change

Joanne Grodzinski, who has served as general manager of the Elora Festival and Singers since 2006, announced to the board of director on Sept. 15 that she is leaving her position with the organization.

While citing personal reasons for her departure, Grodzinski will continue her association with the Elora Festival and Singers in a consulting role.

“Throughout her tenure, Joanne has demonstrated an excellent ability to manage all aspects of the organization, most importantly the handling of grants and finances, which has served to strengthen the organization and put it on a solid financial footing,” said Chris Craig, vice-chairman of the board.

“It is comforting to know that Joanne will always be a festival supporter, as her hard work and commitment to the organization over the past two years has demonstrated. We appreciate that.”

Well-known radio personality and classical music specialist Jurgen Petrenko has been named to fill the position of general manager, effective Sept. 16.

An accomplished musician and conductor, Petrenko is best known for his 19 years with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation as a producer of a variety of shows on CBC Radio 2.

“We are delighted to have Jurgen on board,” said Artistic Director Noel Edison. “We are looking forward to working with him.”

Celebrating its 30th season from July 10 to Aug. 2 in 2009, the Elora Festival presents a broad range of classical and contemporary music featuring Canadian artists of international calibre.
