Elora Fergus Studio Tour transitions to gallery show and sale

ELORA – The Elora Fergus Studio Tour has been cancelled for the first time in its 34-year history due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In its place, the Elora Centre for the Arts (ECFTA) and the Studio Tour have collaborated to offer a Gallery Show and Sale in the ECFTA Minarovich Gallery.

The show, which runs from Sept. 17 to Oct. 11, will feature pieces created by 34 artists.

Gallery hours are 11am to 4pm on Thursdays and Fridays and 12 to 5pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

“All artists have been juried into the Studio Tour to ensure that the quality of the work is outstanding,” officials stated in a Sept. 18 press release.

“Jewelry, glass, marquetry and wood working, ceramics, woven tapestry, sculptures, collage, encaustic, and paintings from representational to abstract works are all available.”

Officials say “creativity and the arts can play a vital role in this period of recovery” during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition to the gallery show, there is also an artisan shop offering handmade items that are unique, affordable and perfect for gifts, officials say.

At least ten of the Studio Tour Artists are represented here.

ECFTA staff have taken precautions for physical distancing and protecting visitors and volunteers inside the building. Masks are mandatory.

There is a third initiative that features ten Studio Tour artists on Sept. 26 and 27 and Oct. 3 and 4.

“They will be showing and offering their works of art for sale at the Elora Fergus Art in the Open event from 11am to 4pm on the Saturday and Sunday of both weekends,” officials stated.

Cards describing the artists and their locations are available at the ECFTA or check Facebook and Instagram for more details.
