EICC hosts Summer Kids Gala

ERIN – The Erin Islamic Cultural Centre (EICC) and Erin United Church will be hosting its first Summer Kids Gala event.

The event will take place Aug. 14 from 3 to 7pm at 103 Main Street in Erin.

“We’re hoping everyone takes something positive from the day,” Trisha Celik, event coordinator and organizer, explained.

What started as a day camp for members of the EICC turned into a community outreach event, Celik said, adding she hopes the event will build community relations.

EICC is running its first Islamic day camp during the day, with the event to be hosted in the afternoon for residents in the community.

The event is open to families at the centre as well as the surrounding community in the Town of Erin.

Celik said she hopes this with be the first annual event of many and is looking forward to doing more events for the centre and community in the future.

Food bank donations will be accepted during the event and Celik said officials are accepting cash donations, with funds raised going towards the centre.

The event will feature vendors, games and prizes with a raffle to be drawn at 5pm. There will also be a free barbecue – the second public barbecue the centre has had since it opened in 2019.
