Drayton Soccer alive and well

Drayton Minor Soccer is alive and well for the 2010 season thanks to an incredible response from the community.

Last month the Drayton Minor Soccer committee expressed its concern to The Community News, fearing that unless more volunteers stepped up to the plate the club would have to dissolve.

But that was not to be the case for the club, which boasted over 300 players last year. President Joanne Keunen said she was hoping for three or four new executive members and was astonished to fill the roster with eight new members.

Practices will start the middle of April for U8 to U18. The season will start May 13 for U4 and U6, who practice and play the same night, which is a Thursday.

Games will start the week of May 3 for U8 to U18. The season runs until July 24 for U8 to U12 with their final tournament on that day. U14 to U18 have their final playoff games the week of Aug. 9. U4 and U6 will finish on July 15 with a possible U6 final tournament on July 17 in Listowel.

The club is still looking for coaches, referees and lines people for the upcoming season.
