Davidson acclaimed to Federation of Canadian Municipalities board

REGINA – Wellington County councillor and Mapleton Mayor Gregg Davidson was acclaimed to the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) board of directors for the 2022-23 term at the annual FCM Conference which ran from June 2 to 5. Davidson is one of 16 members representing the Ontario Caucus.

“I’d like to congratulate Mayor Davidson on his acclamation to the FCM board of directors for the 2022-2023 term,” commented Warden Kelly Linton. “The FCM board of directors forms a broad base of support and carries the municipal message all the way to the Government of Canada.”

The board is made up of elected municipal officials and affiliate members from all regions and communities across Canada. The board meets quarterly to discuss key municipal issues, set policy priorities, and serve as a support system for municipalities bringing forward their messages to the Government of Canada.

“I am honoured to represent the Ontario Caucus on the FCM national board of directors,” said Davidson.

“I welcome this opportunity to work with leaders from across the country to address important municipal concerns. I look forward to advocating for Ontario and Wellington County in this position.”

Davidson was elected to Wellington County council representing Ward 2 in 2014 and elected as mayor for the Township of Mapleton in the 2018 municipal election.

In April, Wellington County council endorsed Davidson to stand for election on the FCM board.

Wellington County councillor and Minto Mayor George Bridge, who is not seeking re-election in 2022, has served on the FCM board since 2016.
