Curves supports communities with 11th food drive

Collectively, over the past five years, nearly 50 million pounds of food were distributed to local communities all over the world through the Curves Food Drive.

During March, Fergus Curves will participate in its eighth annual food drive to benefit the Centre Wellington Food Bank.

Fergus Curves is also giving back to the community by waiving its normal service fee for any new member who brings in a $25 bag of non-perishable groceries and joins between March 2 and March 21. The promotion will help the women of Centre Wellington manage their weight and their wallets by joining Curves for free, while also helping feed hungry people in the community.

"The Curves Food Drive is always exciting," said Genevieve Oliver, the owner of the Fergus club at 105 Queen Street West. "We have a chance to help so many people at a time when the food banks are lowest.  Especially during these uncertain times, this food is needed more than ever.”

Usage of the Centre Wellington Food Bank is up 25 per cent.

“It’s a win-win situation for everyone, and we’re very proud to participate," she said.

Others wishing to donate may drop off non-perishable food items at Curves Monday through Saturday during business hours throughout March.
