County staff redeployed to assist public health with vaccination clinics

WELLINGTON COUNTY – A total of 16 county staff are being redeployed to assist with COVID-19 vaccination clinics.

“Currently, we have 16 staff and one councillor who are assisting in the (Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health) vaccination clinics,” stated County of Wellington communications manager Andrea Ravensdale in a Dec. 21 email to the Advertiser.

Ravensdale noted three of the employees have been redeployed full time since January of 2021,  nine employees who had been previously redeployed are returning to full-time duty with public health, and four previously redeployed employees are being redeployed on a casual basis.

A local politician is also pitching in.

Ravensdale said Ward 4 county councillor Steve O’Neill has been volunteering to assist the health unit since the vaccination campaign began and continues to do so.

County staff from various departments are providing administrative support for the clinics.

“Yesterday, we put a call out for additional staff to assist if they are able,” said Ravensdale.

“Staff are coming from a variety of different departments.

“At this time we do not know how long they will be redeployed for.”
