Brown trout stocking in Centre Wellington

Friends of the Grand River and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) were stocking brown trout in the Grand River on May 7 and 8. Groups of volunteers released the fish at 30 sites between the Shand Dam at Belwood Lake and the Highway 86 bridge in West Montrose. This is the 30th year the organizations have stocked the river with the brown trout from the MNRF Chatsworth Fish Culture Station. This year the brown trout season runs from April 28 to Sept. 30. Scarlett King, 6, helps her dad Jason King transfer fish into tanks in Fergus for transportation. The King family has been volunteering for four years.  Photo by Olivia Rutt
