Centre Wellington closes municipal office, cancels all meetings

ELORA – Centre Wellington has now decided to fully close all township facilities to the public, including the municipal office here.

The March 17 announcement means all seven lower tier municipalities in the county have closed their municipal offices.

Centre Wellington has also announced that all public meetings, including advisory committee meetings, planning meetings, and meetings of council, are cancelled until April 5.

Township staff will be available to assist and service residents by electronic means only:

  • phones will continue to be answered between 8:30am and 4:30pm, Monday to Friday, at 519-846-9691;
  • general email inquiries can be sent to clerks@centrewellington.ca.
  • Service requests such as purchasing of dog tags and burn permits are available online; and
  • taxes can be paid through financial institutions via internet or telephone banking.

“Essential services will continue to operate on a priority basis to support our community, states the township release, adding cemetery services will be provided by appointment only (519-994-0218).

At this time, building permits will only be accepted electronically through email.
