Canadian National Ringette champs

St. Clements Rockets Junior AA ringette travelled to the provincials in London, in March.

They won gold and went on to compete as Team Ontario at the Tim Hortons National Championships in Charlottetown last month.

They beat every province with a 9-0 won-lost record.

The gold medal game was Team Ontario versus Alberta. Ontario won 4-1 to win the national title.

They also won the Agnes Jacks True Sport award.

Local Arthur girls were goalie Stacey Ireland and defenceman Megan Carberry.

Guelph players included Lana VanFoort and Sarah Worthen, with remaining team members from St. Clements, Kitchener, Waterloo, Dorchester, Ottawa, and Ajax.

This team was called Team O in Prince Edward Island.

It was a lifetime dream for the girls to compete in the nationals.

That dream became a reality when they won gold to become the number one ringette team in Canada.
