Blue Jays Care Foundation backs diamond lighting

PONSONBY – The Ponsonby Recreation Club has received a $25,000 donation from the Blue Jays Care Foundation, to help with replacement of diamond lights at its park.

The club has been fundraising since 2017 to replace the aging lights.

In 2018, sufficient funds were raised to replace the lights on A diamond.

Since then, the club has raised further funds to replace lights on B diamond. They now have $65,000 of the $70,000 needed.

The group hopes to reach its goal with the Light up the Night 3 Pitch tourney, May 31 to June 2.

Construction is expected this October at the end of the season. Jays Care has recently invested over $1.3 million in community baseball infrastructure, with 15 projects across Canada receiving “Field of Dreams” grants.
