Biscuits-making and bus tour on agenda for Culture Days activities in Town of Minto

The Town of Minto through the Minto Cultural Roundtable has several free events and activities lined up for Culture Days 2015, which runs from  Sept. 25 to 27. Culture Days started in 2009 and raises the awareness, accessibility, participation and engagement of Canadians in the arts and cultural life of their communities.

The fun kicks off Friday afternoon at the Wellington County Library, Harriston Branch at 4pm with Dorelene Anderson doing a pie and tea biscuit demonstration. Participants can enjoy the tea biscuits, have a chance to win the pie and take home the recipes! At 7pm the Wellington County Museum and Archives will be on hand to speak about historical food preservation. Attendees can discover how culture and geography affects our food choices and can share their favourite food-related memories.

Back by popular demand is the culture bus.

“For those that love Savour the Flavours of Minto this tour is for you!” town officials state. Participants will tour some of the farms participating in the annual event and have the opportunity to sip and savour along the way. The bus departs the Palmerston Railway Heritage Museum at 10am.

On Sunday Sept. 27, residents can have the rare opportunity to view a total lunar eclipse. David and Jean Anderson have opened up their property for this event and Gordon Duff will provide the Sky Tour at 8pm with the full eclipse beginning at 10:11pm. A bonfire and snacks will be provided.
