Badley Bridge removed from downtown Elora

Bridge gone – On Jan. 31 the Badley Bridge across the Grand River in Elora was removed. After a few weeks of preparation, the bridge was completely divorced from the two abutments on either end and five heavy equipment machines dragged the bridge, with the help of a barge, to the road in front of the LCBO store on Metcalfe Street. A machine cut the steel girders into smaller pieces which were then put on a truck and hauled away. The new bridge is scheduled to open to traffic in November.
