Man charged in separate incidents on May 2 and 4: OPP

ARTHUR – An Arthur man is facing drug, theft and forcible confinement charges in connection with two separate incidents this week.

Wellington County OPP officials say police responded to a “suspicious person” call on George Street in Arthur on May 2 at about 7am.

“Officers responded to the area and located a person with a vehicle and also with property, including two kayaks, that had previously been reported as stolen,” police stated in a May 5 press release.

“Further investigation determined that the motor vehicle involved had been taken without consent.”

Brandon Douglas London, 30, of Arthur, was charged with theft (under $5,000), possession of property obtained by crime (under $5,000), possession of methamphetamine, and being an occupant in a motor vehicle taken without consent.

He is to appear in Guelph court on June 30.

Nicholas Bertin-Wildeman, 30, of East-Garafraxa, was charged with taking a motor vehicle without consent and was held for a bail hearing.

Two days later, on May 4 at about 5pm, Wellington County OPP officers responded to a house on George Street in Arthur for a call about a person being held against their will.

“Officers attended the area and were able to locate the victim, who was uninjured,” states an OPP press release.

London was charged with forcible confinement and possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking.

He was held for a bail hearing.
