Arthur man charged after hit-and-run crash

GUELPH – An Arthur man faces several charges after a hit-and-run collision here.

Just before 5pm on Nov. 3, Guelph Police Service was notified of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Silvercreek Parkway North and Greengate Drive.

“The collision caused significant damage to the two involved vehicles, one of which fled the scene,” Guelph Police stated in a Nov. 4 press release.

“Investigation led officers to a parking lot on Willow Road, where they located a male standing beside a damaged vehicle.

“The male had purchased the vehicle in the summer of 2020 but never registered it in his name or insured it. As well the male was found to be driving with a suspended licence.”

A 31-year-old Arthur man is charged with failing to stop after a collision and “several offences under the Highway Traffic Act and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act,” police say.

He is to appear in Guelph court on Dec. 14.

Guelph Police Service does not provide the name of those charged.
