Anderson Community Christmas continues in modified format

MINTO – Jean and Dave Anderson are continuing to work on plans to host their Anderson Community Christmas event on Dec. 25.

The free event, which is open to everyone looking to spend some time with others on Christmas day, has attracted large crowds to community centres in Clifford, Palmerston and Harriston since it began.

This year’s fifth annual event, to be held from the Harriston Community Center, is being modified due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year there won’t be a sit-down dinner, due to physical distancing requirements.

“You’d have to have like six sittings. But we will be cooking the meal, preparing the meal and organizing pickup or takeout, similar to some of the church suppers lately,” Jean stated.

Pickup meals in Harriston

This year’s meals will be distributed primarily through pickup from the Harriston Community Centre.

However, Jean notes, “We can arrange delivery of some meals for people not able to arrange a pickup.”

The dinner is free but if people wish to donate, the money will be divided among local food banks.

Call or text 519-505-5914 to volunteer or arrange to pick up meals.
