Wellington Advertiser nominated for six OCNA awards

WELLINGTON COUNTY – The Wellington Advertiser has been named one of the top three community newspapers in Ontario in its circulation class.

On Feb. 14 the Ontario Community Newspapers Association (OCNA) announced the  finalists for its 2019 Better Newspaper Competition (BNC).

Organized annually by the OCNA, the competition recognizes the work of community newspapers throughout the province.

The Advertiser was nominated in the general excellence category (circulation between 22,500 and 44,999) along with the Guelph Mercury Tribune and Sudbury Northern Life.

The Advertiser is also a finalist in the following Premier Award categories:

– best editorial (circulation over 10,000), for an opinion piece on the Town of Erin finally releasing employee severance figures;

– best photo layout for a full page of Riverfest Elora concert photos;

– best feature/unit pages for a special feature celebrating the grand opening of the new Broadline Rentals facility near Mount Forest;

– best local retail layout category (for both a Cava Granite ad in the Advertiser as well as a Drayton Freshmart ad in its sister publication, the North Wellington Community News); and

– best use of process colour for a Guelph Hyundai ad.
