Tour de Guelph set for June 25

The fourth annual Tour de Guelph, a bicycling event for all ages and abilities is scheduled for  June 25.

In its first three years, Tour de Guelph has raised over $150,000 for Guelph General Hospital and for many local and international Rotary projects.

This year, the fundraising goal has been set to $80,000 to help fund a much needed non-invasive respiratory ventilator for Guelph General Hospital and to help support a number of local charities through the Rotary Clubs of Guelph South and Guelph Trillium.

The non-invasive respiratory ventilator is an essential tool in treating severe respiratory distress caused by health conditions including congestive heart failure, pneumonia, severe asthma, and severe chronic cbstructive pulmonary disease (COPD.)

A number of other community organizations will be supported through the Rotary Clubs of Guelph South’s and Guelph Trillium’s portion of the proceeds.

Registration is open now for one of six routes including a family-friendly 5k and 10k through the arboretum, and 25k, 50k, 100k, and 160k routes through Guelph-Wellington’s rural roads.

Registration is online until midnight on June 22. Online early-bird prices are in effect until midnight on May 25.

In addition to participating as a rider, anyone can make a donation by sponsoring a rider, or by making a general donation through the Tour de Guelph website www.tourdeguelph.ca
