Drayton school opening pushed back to fall 2027

DRAYTON – St. Martin of Tours Catholic Elementary School in Drayton is set to open its doors to students in September 2027.

That’s a year later than officials initially anticipated.

Wellington Catholic District School Board communications lead Bianca Pettinaro told the Advertiser that construction on the Drayton site is beginning this month and will be completed in several phases.

The Mapleton Childcare Centre within the new school is scheduled to open in December 2026, and officials say more information about program offerings and registration will be shared soon.

Construction on St. Martin of Tours Catholic Elementary School is set to be completed in the spring of 2027, and officials say the school will officially welcome its first students in September 2027.

Student registration will begin in the spring of 2026.

“Timelines were confirmed in consultation with the contractor once the tender for the project was awarded in September,” Pettinaro stated in an email.

“We look forward to welcoming students and families into our school community and ensuring a smooth transition into the building at the start of the new school year (2027-28).”
