Puslinch hot sauce business in Ontario Made Awards finals

ONTARIO – The fifth annual Ontario Made Awards finalists have been named – and a Puslinch-based hot sauce company, Lost in the Sauce, has made the cut.

The finalists are Ontario manufacturers and retailers that help consumers make informed decisions in increasing the sale and awareness of Ontario-made products, officials say.

From Aug. 25 to Oct. 5, Ontarians voted for their favourite manufacturer and retailer in each category. Over 80,000 votes were cast to determine the nine finalists across three award categories.

Consumer Awareness Award finalists include Lost in the Sauce, Culture Shock Kombucha and Queen Milling Inc.

Manufacturer Spotlight Award finalists are Plastic Flux, SHW Pumps and Engine Components Inc. and Styrok Inc.

Retailer Spotlight Award finalists include: Raise the Root Organic Market, Sauve’s Country Market and Topline Feed and Farm Supply.

Lost in the Sauce owner,  Karthy Subramaniam, started in 2018 with the OG Boodoo hot sauce – a spin on a classic homemade Trinidadian pepper sauce recipe dedicated to his late friend Brandon Boodoo.

Now Subramaniam has six sauces on his roster.

The finalists move on to the final stage, where a panel of judges will select the winners.

Award winners will be announced on Dec. 2.
