$3 million loss to fraud

On March 31, Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit began an investigation after the owner of the Pioneer Gas Station on Highway 6 in Guelph-Eramosa Township reported that a fraudulent transaction involving the purchase of a gas station occurred.  The believed loss to the current owner was reportedly in the $3 million range.

Alexandr Shcolyar, 55 of Richmond Hill was arrested and charged on July 1, with Utter a Forged Document and Fraud Over $5,000. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on Aug. 7.
