“˜Safe Talk”™ coming to Wellington County

Through the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) and #GetInTouchForHutch, a “Safe Talk” workshop will be held at St. John Catholic School here on Feb. 28.

The Sports-specific session be from 9am to 12pm and the community session will be from 1 to 4pm. Each session costs $20.

Safe Talk is a suicide alertness workshop that teaches participants how to recognize signs that someone may be having suicidal thoughts, said Linda Bender, a team leader for mental health promotion and education with CMHA.

She said participants will think about questions they need to ask, what to listen for, how they can keep someone safe, and who they can connect with if they need in-depth intervention.
