Touch a truck

Minto Fire hosted its fifth annual Touch A Truck event on June 17 at the Harriston-Minto Community Centre grounds. Organizers estimate the event drew more than 2,000 people and raised over $8,000 before a rainstorm dampened the festivities.

Man assaults officer

MINTO - On June 6 at about 9:15am a Wellington County OPP officer saw a man with a suspended licence driving an ATV in Clifford. The male suspect fled on the ATV from the officer.

HARRISTON - On June 11 at about 12:30am, Wellington County OPP officers responded to an alarm at a business on Arthur Street West here.

PALMERSTON - On June 9 Wellington County OPP responded to a stolen tools report at a building job site on Main Street West here.

Gold medalists - From June 12 to 14 Norwell’s Unified soccer team participated in the provincial school championships in Niagara Falls. The team went undefeated in the tournament and captured the gold medal with a 3-0 score in the final. “Congratulations to our Special Olympic athletes and Unified Partners on this outstanding win,” school officials stated.

HARRISTON - Due to widespread flooding on Friday morning, Minto officials are asking motorists to avoid Harriston and advising local residents to stay home if possible.
