Councillors here are endorsing a recommendation to a $106,000 proposal to upgrade three Centre Wellington parks.

Centre Wellington approved the proposal by Playpower LT Canada Inc., in the amount of $106,604 (inclusive of the HST).

The scope of work for each of the subject proposals is for the design, supply and installation of playground structures at the following parks:

- Hoffer Park (Elora);

- Pattison Park (Fergus);

- O’Brien Park (Elora).

Councillor Kelly Linton asked for clarification as to whether this was what was included in the municipality’s master plan for parks and recreation.

Acting CAO Andy Goldie noted two of the parks were tendered last year, but work was unable to proceed.

As a result the projects were re-tendered including the third park.

Councillor Fred Morris said “I am so glad to see this. I thought I would be permanently retired before I would see one of the parks in my ward being done.”

“We  haven’t voted yet,” quipped councillor Walt Visser.

Council’s vote quickly endorsed the recommendation.
