Minto Mayors tourney raises $9,000

by Patrick Raftis

MINTO

The Mayor’s Charity Golf Tournament here raised $9,000, which will be divided between three community organizations.

Mayor George Bridge announced the total for the Aug. 23 event at the Sept. 11  Minto council meeting.

Receiving $3,000 each from the proceeds, presented at the meeting, were the Palmerston Figure Skating Club, the Clifford and District Horticultural Society and the Norgan Theatre in Palmerston.

Beneficiaries of the tournament are determined on an annual basis through an application process.

While the tournament bears his title, Bridge stressed that “it’s really the town’s golf tournament,” and commended the staff, members of council and other organizations that make the event a success.

The second annual Mayor’s Charity Golf Tournament, hosted by the Town of Minto and Pike Lake Golf Centre Ltd., drew 32 teams from across Wellington County and surrounding area.
