Name should remain

Dear Editor:

I agree with the majority of people who live where the sign Swastika shows the name of their street

As it has been pointed out, the word swastika has been used before the use by the Nazis in Germany.

In northern Ontario there is a village named Swastika and I am sure that the people of that small community near Kirkland Lake are not wanting the name of their village changed.

There are many people who have come from Germany or have German backgrounds who have German names - are we going to ask them to change their names because their names might offend us?

Are there not more important things to do rather than a name change that a majority does not want? An example is a little child who needs some expensive medication.

I hope everyone has a prosperous new year.

Charles Kerr, MOUNT FOREST
