Drinking and driving

GUELPH - On Oct. 27 at about 2:20am, Wellington County OPP officers were called about a single vehicle in the ditch on the Hanlon Expressway near Wellington Road 34 here.

Police say an OPP officer located the vehicle on its roof with significant damage. “The driver was located nearby as he had been ejected and suffered some injuries,” police added. The driver was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Ryan Kruchkowsky, 29, of Erin, was charged with driving with impaired driving, refusing to provide a breath sample and dangerous operation of a vehicle. He is to appear in Guelph court on Dec. 5.

GUELPH - On Oct. 29 at about 3am, Wellington County OPP officers were conducting a RIDE program on the Hanlon Expressway near Wellington Street.

Police say they spoke to the female driver of a Toyota, conducted a roadside screening device test and transported her to a local OPP operations centre for further testing.

Corrinne Thompson, 39, of Burlington, was charged with driving with more than 80mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood in her system, driving while disqualified, possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana and failing to provide an insurance card. She is to appear in Guelph court on Dec. 8.

CENTRE WELLINGTON - On Nov. 4 at about 1:30am, a Wellington County OPP officer stopped a 2007 Honda Fit on Highway 6 at 6th Line.

Police say the officer spoke with the driver and conducted a roadside screening device test.

Jamie Soules, 40, of Fergus, was charged with driving over 80mg and is to appear in Guelph court on Dec. 8.

CENTRE WELLINGTON - On Nov. 6 at about 9:20pm, Wellington County OPP officers were advised of a traffic complaint on Wellington Road 19 here.

Police say the vehicle and driver were located at an address on James Street in Fergus.

Johanna VanBekkum, 55, of Fergus, was charged with failing to provide a breath sample. She is to appear in Guelph court on Dec. 15.

In the above incidents the driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for seven days.
