Help celebrate Canada at 177th Aberfoyle Fall Fair

ABERFOYLE - As Canada celebrates its 150th birthday, the Aberfoyle Fall Fair will be celebrating as well.

Now in its 177th year, the Aberfoyle Fall Fair is older than Confederation itself.

On Sept. 8 and 9, organizers invite the public to celebrate Canada with them.

Events kick off Friday with Knocker Balls in the arena at 6pm and the tractor pull at 7pm.

The halls and the green shed are closed for judging on Friday.

Get in early for the farmers market, which is open all day for the fair.

All day activity bracelets for kids are for sale for $5 each.

Saturday events include the Market Tent, Hunter Jumpers, Horseless Jumping-Horse Rings, Antique Tractor display and stock cars too.

Try out the children’s sports at the Kids Zone Tent at Old Macdonalds Farm all day or check out various 4-H club competitions.

A Sciencsational Snake Exhibit will be in the Kid Zone Tent and the event contains bouncy castles galore.

A 150th display by local embroiderers will be in the main hall.

Those looking for a good read can check out the used book sale at the library before watching the balloon artist performance from 10:30am to 12:30pm.

Other events include: Yvette and her Farm Friends Show; music on the patio by Two of a Kind; a pet show, face painting and a tea room.

Take part in the Great Loonie in the Straw search or a Kiddies Tractor Pull.

At 3pm check out the ATV and Garden Tractor Pull Weigh In.

At 4:45pm buildings close for returning entries for a 5pm pick up of articles.

This year the fair is hosting a pig roast from 5 to 7pm Saturday night.

Limited tickets available. Music by Country Squires Band.

Sunday marks a community “Blessing Of The Agricultural Society” at 10:30am as four community churches come together for a service.
