Fun for a cause at Waterstock in Erin

An estimated 3,500 people attended Waterstock at the Erin fairgrounds on June 11. Organized by the Wellington Water Watchers (WWW) and Riverfest Elora, the festival aimed to raise awareness about water protection and sustainability and to urge Premier Kathleen Wynne to oppose commercial control of water resources. The event featured many musical acts, activities and food trucks from all over Ontario. WWW spokesman Mike Nagy stated “farmers and communities in this area, and all over Canada face increasing water uncertainty.” The group is particularly concerned about Nestlé Waters operations in Aberfoyle and Hillsburgh, and its proposal for a third Wellington County well near Elora.
