Groves, North Wellington Health Care get award

WELLINGTON CTY. - Groves Memorial Community Hospital in Fergus and North Wellington Health Care were jointly awarded a silver quality health care workplace award by the Ontario Hospital Association and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care – Health Force Ontario on Nov. 16.

North Wellington Health Care is Palmerston Hospital and Louise Marshall Hospital in Mount Forest.

The two were among 37 hospitals and health care organizations recognized for their efforts to improve their workplaces in ways that contribute to employees’ quality of work life and the quality of the care and services they deliver.

The awards were presented at the association’s annual conference in Toronto.

“We are very proud to receive and share in this recognition amongst a very large audience,” said president of the two hospital systems Jerome Quenneville. “Our focus this year included our commitment to programs and services which promotes effective training and communication and our continued commitment to a safe, healthy and respectful workplace.”

Healthcare organizations from across Ontario have participated in the program for quality healthcare work places. The award has four levels - bronze, silver, gold, and platinum - designed to encourage self-evaluation, learning, and improvement.

An adjudication panel of workplace experts completed a rigorous assessment when reviewing all the candidates, which focused on drivers of employee and organizational health.
